Treatwell is a consumer marketplace that charges a published 35% plus VAT on first bookings from new marketplace clients, on top of a monthly plan it does not price publicly. Mintbook is a booking website built and run for you, from £149 a month with no commission. Treatwell suits newer salons that need demand; Mintbook suits established ones that want their own site.

What 35% means in pounds
On a £60 first appointment from a new Treatwell marketplace client, the published rate is £21.00 in commission, or £25.20 once VAT at 20% is added. Ten of those a month is £210 before VAT, or £2,520 a year. Repeat bookings are commission-free, but a client who has not booked in 365 days counts as new again.
Bookings made directly with you, or through Treatwell’s Book Now buttons on your own website and social pages, carry no commission, only a 2.5% fee plus VAT if the client prepays online.
The terms to read before you sign
Treatwell’s supplier terms ask partners not to encourage customers to book other than through Treatwell’s marketplace or widget, to add every booking to Treatwell’s calendar, and not to use other third-party software for customer bookings. If a salon cancels a visit later than midnight before the day, Treatwell can still apply commission.

How much commission does Treatwell take?
Treatwell’s published rate is 35% plus VAT on the first booking from a new client it brings you through its marketplace, with 0% on repeat bookings. Its terms say your own agreement sets the actual rate, so check yours.
How much is Treatwell’s monthly subscription?
Treatwell does not publish its subscription price on its UK site. Its Freelancer and Advanced plans say ‘start for free’, and its FAQ refers to a monthly fee, so ask Treatwell for a written quote.
Can I use my own booking website with Treatwell?
Treatwell’s supplier terms ask partners not to use other third-party software to take customer bookings, and to put all bookings in its calendar. You can add Treatwell’s own Book Now widget to your website.
Can I move my clients from Treatwell to Mintbook?
Yes. The account owner can export the client list from Treatwell Connect, including names, phone numbers and emails. Treatment history and payment details are not included. We import the contacts into your Mintbook site.
